Some frames have interchangeable lenses for different conditions, others can be made with lenses that change for various conditions. It is important that our opticians know what you need and what you want your eyeglasses to do for you. These are examples of common needs of our patients. - Office: Maybe not a favorite activity, but a big necessity for many. We have lenses with large intermediate and near areas to use at the computer (or multiple monitors), desk, and reading.
- Golf: New progressive lens designs allow you to see good distance, the ball at your feet, and your score card. Lenses with special coloring to help read the greens, enhancing contrast, changing tints and darkness with the brightness of the sun. Sun protection is also a must.
- Motorcycling & biking: Impact resistant lenses for added safety in frames that help minimize wind from irritating your eyes. Special lens designs to keep the periphery more clear. Colors of lenses can change with brightness of sunlight, while protecting from UV rays at all times.
- Fishing, boating: Polarized lenses are a must to cut the glare off the surface of the water for both enabling you to see the fish in the water, and to ease eye strain from the oncoming glare. We even offer a glasses that float if you drop them in the water. Ultra-violet sun protection is an absolute necessity.
- Skiing, sledding: High contrast lenses are a must to see contours of the snow and ice patches, and protect from intense ultra-violet light rays. Polarized lenses will cut the glare off of ice.
- Flying object sports including football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and tennis: Impact protection and quality of optics is vital, while some tints of lenses can help see specific objects.
- Driving: Lenses that change tints even in the vehicle for changing weather conditions, and cutting glare off road surfaces and other vehicles.
- Hunting, shooting: High contrast lenses are most helpful, with glare and UV sun protection sharing importance.
- Safety Eyewear: Z87.1 frames and lenses for industrial safety and work applications where impact resistance is a must.
